T1D Babysitting is an app by Carbetic for families of children with type 1 diabetes and for babysitters who know type 1. Families find sitters nearby on a map, look at their profiles and message them in the app. People with type 1 experience can babysit and find families near them. The app helps families and sitters find each other; they agree on everything else themselves.
For parents and guardians of children with type 1 diabetes who want a babysitter who understands blood sugar, insulin, pumps and CGMs. And for people who know type 1 from their own life, for example because they have it themselves or someone in their family does, and who want to babysit.
Families create a profile with how many children they have, their age range and the diabetes devices they use, then explore sitters nearby on the map or in a list. Sitters create a profile with their experience with type 1, the pumps and CGMs they know, their languages and hobbies. After a quick ID check, families and sitters message each other in the app and agree on the details.
Sitters say what experience they have with diabetes, for example living with type 1 themselves or with someone in their family, and which pumps and CGMs they're familiar with. This information comes from the sitters themselves: Carbetic verifies identity, not medical knowledge. Talk it through with a sitter before you meet.
T1D Babysitting is built only for type 1 diabetes. On general babysitting sites you usually can't tell whether a sitter knows type 1. Here, sitter profiles show their experience with type 1 and the devices they know, families can say which devices their child uses, everyone who sends a message has verified their ID, and Carbetic takes no commission.
Anyone aged 16 or older who has experience with type 1 diabetes. Sitters aged 16 or 17 need their parent's or guardian's permission. Parents and guardians looking for a sitter must be 18 or older.
No. Sitters are private individuals with experience of type 1, not medical professionals. Carbetic connects families and sitters and isn't responsible for the care they provide. Medical decisions stay with your family and your diabetes team.
Before anyone can send a message, they confirm their identity with an official photo ID. The ID images aren't kept. Afterwards the profile shows the verified first name and the initial of the last name, and only ID-verified sitters can open family profiles.
Everyone confirms their identity with an official photo ID before they can send a message, and names show as first name and initial. Exact addresses are never shown, and phone numbers, email addresses and messenger links can't be sent in the chat. Family profiles never include children's names, birthdays or schools. Every new chat starts with a short safety note, and anyone can report a profile or a message in a few taps.
Your exact address is never shown. Profiles appear within a few kilometres of where you are, and contact details like phone numbers can't be shared in the chat. Family profiles never include children's names, birthdays or schools.
So families and sitters get to know each other in the app first. Phone numbers, email addresses and messenger links can't be sent in the chat. Dates, times and postcodes can.
Each new conversation starts with a short reminder: only identity is verified, Carbetic is not a party to any agreement between a family and a sitter, and medical decisions stay with the family's diabetes team.
Report it in a few taps from the profile or the chat. Every report is reviewed by a person, with the aim of doing so within 24 hours. Reports about child safety or threats hide the profile right away until it has been reviewed.
No. T1D Babysitting helps families and sitters find each other. Times, tasks and payment are agreed between the family and the sitter, and families pay their sitter directly. Carbetic is not a party to that agreement.
T1D Babysitting is free for families and sitters, and so is the ID check. Carbetic takes no commission. If you use babysitting inside the Carbetic app, it's part of your Carbetic subscription.
