T1D Babysitting
Community Guidelines
Version 2.0 · Last updated 22 October 2026 · Deutsch
T1D Babysitting exists so that children with type 1 diabetes can be looked after by people who understand it. Everything here serves that goal. These guidelines are part of the Network Terms. You accept both actively when you create a profile. If you break them, we can remove content, limit or suspend your account, or remove you from the network (section 16). The numbers below are the ones we quote when we explain a decision.
1. Who can take part
1.1 You are a real person and you act for yourself. Families are 18 or older. Sitters are 16 or older, and sitters aged 16 or 17 confirm that a parent or guardian agrees.
1.2 One person, one account. Do not create a second account, and do not come back with a new account after we removed you.
1.3 Private individuals only. No agencies, companies or people recruiting for them.
2. Honest profiles
2.1 Write only true things about yourself, including your first name and your birth month and year. After the ID check, your name comes from your ID and cannot be changed.
2.2 Your answer to "What experience do you have with diabetes?" and the devices you know are your own statements. Do not exaggerate them, and do not name other people in them.
2.3 Keep your profile up to date. It is about you, not about other people.
2.4 Family profiles can show the number of children with T1D, their age bands and the diabetes devices they use. Keep everything else for the chat, once you trust the other person.
3. Photos on your profile
3.1 Each profile can have up to 6 photos. Photo 1 is your profile photo and shows you, in a real and recent photo. The other photos are optional, for example family photos.
3.2 Photos of children. Family photos may show children. Post only photos of children you are allowed to share, for example your own. Never add a child's name.
3.3 Not allowed in any photo:
- nudity or anything sexual;
- violence, weapons or gore;
- phone numbers or other contact details;
- other people without their permission;
- stock photos, photos of famous people, or photos that pretend to be someone else.
3.4 Who sees your photos. Photos are visible to everyone who can see the profile: sitter profiles and family profiles to everyone who has published a profile. Nothing is blurred. Only add photos you are allowed to share.
3.5 Checks. Before a photo appears, Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch checks it automatically for sexual and violent content. If a photo is refused, the app tells you why, and you can ask a person to review the decision. The other rules in this section are not checked automatically. We act on them when someone reports a photo.
4. Personal details and privacy
4.1 Children's details. Never publish a child's name, birthday, school, nursery or club, in a profile, in a review or anywhere else in public parts of the network. Health details about a child belong only in the structured family fields. Family photos are covered in section 3.
4.2 Contact details. Do not put phone numbers, email addresses, social media names, links or bank details in your profile or in reviews. In the chat, phone numbers, email addresses and messenger links cannot be sent at all (section 10.5). Swap numbers in person when you meet.
4.3 Other people's private information. Do not share anyone else's personal information, for example a family's address, a sitter's health or what someone told you in confidence, without their permission.
4.4 Screenshots. Do not post screenshots of conversations or profiles outside the network to embarrass, expose or harass someone. You may keep screenshots as evidence for a report or the police.
4.5 Where people live. Do not try to find out where a member lives, for example by comparing distances or map positions, and do not follow anyone home. For safety, we keep a log of searches, profile views and photo views for 12 months, so that misuse like this can be investigated.
5. Child safety (zero tolerance)
5.1 We remove anyone who puts a child or young person at risk. This includes:
- any sexual content involving minors, including drawings and "jokes";
- grooming: building trust with a child, a young person or their family in order to abuse them;
- asking a child or young person for photos, secrets, private meetings or contact outside the family's knowledge;
- sexualised comments about children or young people;
- threatening to share intimate images (sextortion);
- trafficking or exploitation of any kind.
5.2 Sitters aged 16 and 17 are young people. Adults must treat them as such: keep conversations about babysitting, and never ask them for personal photos.
5.3 We report child sexual abuse material and other suspected crimes against children to the police. If a child is in danger, call your local emergency number first.
Our Child Safety Standards explain how we prevent, detect and respond to harm to children.
6. Respect
6.1 Be polite, even when you say no. No harassment, bullying, insults or repeated unwanted messages.
6.2 No threats, intimidation or encouragement of violence.
6.3 No discrimination or hate because of origin, skin colour, nationality, religion or belief, disability, age, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation. Asking about job-related things, such as languages spoken or experience with a pump, is fine.
6.4 If someone stops answering or says no, accept it.
7. Sexual content
7.1 No sexual content, sexual advances or sexual harassment, in profiles, messages, photos or reviews. This is a babysitting network, not a dating service.
8. Money and scams
8.1 Never ask for or send money before you have met in person and agreed on babysitting. No deposits, fees, gift cards, crypto or "advance payments".
8.2 Do not ask for bank details, ID documents or passwords in the chat.
8.3 Do not offer jobs that are not babysitting, sell products, or ask people to work for someone else.
8.4 Carbetic never asks for payment in the chat. Anyone who does is not us.
9. Medical claims and promises
9.1 Do not promise or advertise medical tasks, for example "I adjust insulin doses" or "I take care of all medical decisions".
9.2 Describe your experience honestly instead, for example "I have used a pump myself for 10 years".
9.3 Sitters only do what the family and its diabetes team have taught and allowed them to do. Medical decisions stay with the family and its diabetes team.
10. Chat and photos in the chat
10.1 Use the chat to get to know each other and to arrange babysitting.
10.2 Every photo in the chat is checked automatically for sexual and violent content before it is delivered. Do not try to get around the check.
10.3 Think twice before you send photos of children or of documents to someone you have not met. Never send intimate photos.
10.4 Do not send chain messages, advertising or the same message to many people.
10.5 All chat stays in Carbetic. Phone numbers, email addresses and messenger links or handles cannot be sent in the chat. The app tells you while you type. Do not try to get around this, for example by spelling numbers out. Swap phone numbers in person when you meet.
11. Reviews
11.1 Review only people you have really dealt with. Reviews are from people who messaged each other on Carbetic. We don't check whether they met.
11.2 Write about your own experience: honest, fair and specific. Negative reviews are allowed when they are true and respectful.
11.3 No names of children, no health details, no contact details, no insults, no sexual content, no advertising.
11.4 Do not offer or accept anything for a review, and do not review yourself or a friend.
11.5 If something serious happened, report it instead of writing about it in a review. Our team will look into it.
12. Commercial use, spam and misuse
12.1 The network is for private babysitting only. No agencies, no recruiting, no multi-level marketing, no advertising.
12.2 No scraping, bots, automated messages or collecting of member data.
12.3 Do not get around limits, checks, blocks, bans or safety features.
12.4 Do not send false reports on purpose.
13. Sitters aged 16 and 17, and the adults they talk with
13.1 Sitters aged 16 or 17 and the families they babysit for must follow the laws that protect young people, for example on working hours and night rest.
13.2 Sitters aged 16 or 17: tell a parent or guardian before your first meeting, or bring them along. Think twice before you send photos of yourself to someone you have not met.
13.3 Families: tell the sitter's parent or guardian if they ask what the babysitting involves.
14. Meeting in person
14.1 Meet for the first time in a public place or at the family's home with a parent present. Swap phone numbers when you meet.
14.2 Arrive and leave as agreed. If you cannot come, say so in good time.
14.3 Treat the family's home, belongings and information with care.
14.4 In an emergency during babysitting, call your local emergency number first, then the parents.
15. Illegal content
15.1 Nothing illegal: no hate speech, defamation, threats, fraud, stolen content, or anything else that breaks the law in your country or in Austria.
16. Reporting, blocking and what happens when the rules are broken
16.1 Report anything that breaks these guidelines from the profile, the conversation, the message, the photo or the review. Reports are confidential.
16.2 Block anyone you no longer want contact with. Blocking works at once and in both directions.
16.3 What we do. People review reports, normally within 24 hours. Depending on how serious the breach is, we warn, remove content, limit functions, suspend or remove the account. Any breach of section 5 can lead to immediate and permanent removal. Section 13 of the Network Terms explains the steps, the strike rules and how to challenge a decision.
16.4 We explain our decisions. If we restrict your content or account, you receive a statement of reasons, and you can ask a person to review the decision.
