How reviews work
Version 1.0 · Last updated 21 October 2026 · Deutsch
Consumer law asks us to say whether and how we make sure that reviews come from people who actually met. This page explains exactly how reviews work on T1D Babysitting.
Reviews from people who messaged each other
Reviews are from people who messaged each other on Carbetic. We don't check whether they met. Only people who have both written at least one message in the same conversation can review each other.
The rules
- Messages first. You can review someone once you have both written at least one message to each other in the chat.
- One review per person. You can write one review about each person. If you write a new one later, it replaces your earlier review.
- Both directions. Families review sitters, and sitters review families.
- Published at once. Your review is published as soon as it passes the automatic check. Nobody waits for the other person's review.
- What a review contains: 1 to 5 stars, up to 3 tags from a fixed list, and a text of 30 to 1,000 characters. The tags describe things like reliability or communication. There are no tags about medical or diabetes skills.
- Deleting. You can delete your review at any time. After that, you can write a new one.
When reviews are shown
- Reviews and the average rating appear on a profile once it has 4 or more reviews. Below that, nothing is shown: no stars, no count, no label. This rule is the same for everyone.
- If reviews are deleted or removed and fewer than 4 remain, the reviews and the average are hidden again.
- You can always see the reviews about yourself in your Profile, even below 4.
- The average is the plain mean of all published reviews, rounded to one decimal.
- Reviews are listed newest first. We never sort them by rating and never hide negative reviews.
How reviews are checked
Before a review is accepted, it is checked automatically with simple fixed rules, without artificial intelligence, for:
- phone numbers, email addresses, links and messenger or social media names;
- words from a short list of banned words;
- the length.
Reviews must also not contain children's details, health details, insults, sexual content or advertising (Community Guidelines 11.3). These rules are not checked automatically. We act on them when someone reports a review.
Reviews are never checked for whether they are positive or negative. If a check refuses your review, the app tells you what to change, and you can ask a person to review the decision. If something serious happened, the app asks you to report it instead, so our team can act.
Replies, reports and removal
- There are no public replies. The reviewed person can report a review.
- Anyone can report a review. A review is removed only if it breaks the Community Guidelines or the law. The author then receives a statement of reasons.
- Reviews that share personal details of a child or contain threats are hidden at once until we have reviewed the report.
When someone leaves
- If the reviewed person deletes their account, the reviews about them are deleted.
- If the author deletes their account, their reviews stay, shown as "A family" or "A sitter" with the month it was written, without their name.
What we never do
- We never write, buy or commission reviews.
- We never offer anything in return for a review, and members may not either.
- Demo and test accounts are kept apart from real members. They can never meet, message or review real members.
