How results are ordered
The short version of how the list is ordered. Our explainer has the full rules.
We don't pick anyone for you
Carbetic does not choose or recommend sitters or families. The order follows fixed rules that are the same for everyone.
Three rules
- Distance first. Results are grouped by distance: under 20 km, 20 to 35 km, 35 to 50 km, and beyond that in steps of 25 km (50 to 75 km, 75 to 100 km, and so on). A closer group always comes first. Distance is measured between approximate areas, never between addresses.
- A daily shuffle inside each group. The order inside a group is shuffled for each person, once a day. It stays the same while you scroll and when you refresh on the same day.
- A small head start for complete profiles. Profiles with photos, a text, hobbies and similar details tend to appear a little higher within their group. They never move into a closer group.
Distance from where?
From your own approximate area when you search around it. Otherwise from the place you searched for, your current location or the centre of the map, rounded to a square of about 5 km.
The list and the map
The list reaches a little further than the map. It first shows the people whose pin is on the part of the map you see, then the people just outside it, nearest first, and then everyone further away. The map shows at most 100 pins at a time and has no order.
What never changes the order
- Payment. Nobody can pay to appear higher, and there are no paid boosts or ads.
- Whether someone has a Carbetic plan.
- Reviews and star ratings.
- How active someone is, or how quickly they reply.
- Age, gender, nationality or any other personal trait.
No filters or sorting
There are no filters and no sort options. You always see the order described above, and distance always comes first.
